The main goal of our project is to create an electronic box allowing the technician to analyze an EBSF bus and check if its electronic devices are functional or not.
The EBSF project, or European Bus System of the Future is a European project aiming to standardize all the buses across the Europe. This would simplify exchanges between countries and maintenance on the buses that would be architecturally the same.
We decided to develop a website to allow any Wi-Fi devices to connect themselves and get the result of the test. Thus the technician can have access to the test with his mobile phone, tablet, or personal computer. We tried to make the website very easy to use so that everybody could use it just by following the steps one after the other. We also added an admin interface that only some people can access if they know the login and the password. They can modify (add, edit and delete) the services on the database to make it more accurate and complete.
The first panel of the website allows the user to configure an IP address corresponding to the bus he wants to test. Then the technician can go the bus analysis window by clicking the « go to the test » button. Here he has to click the « launch the test » button to get the result of the test. In this section the biggest part of our project is running: we check the devices on the network and compare them to a preloaded database. By scrolling down, the technician can see three tables. The first one displays the name and type compliant services highlighting them in green, if they have the same characteristics, and in red if they have differences.
The second table shows only the services present on the database and the third only those on the bus.
The last section of this window displays a chart to get a quick look at what is not functional on the bus.
The box is only composed of a raspberry and a battery linked by an USB/µUSB wire. All of the code is stocked into the SD card plugged in the Raspberry. The full project is estimated at less than 100€. And we really think that it could be useful for Digimobee and every company in the EBSF project.
