Un véhicule pour le robot Nao.
Service robotics is a market full of future promises. Indeed, during the last ten years, the number of services has increased by at least a factor of thirty. This market has a rapid and strong growth and attracts a lot of country to enter in the Market. That is the reason why, several countries such as France has planned to become one of the five leading nations worldwide in robotics domain by 2020. For now, in France, Aldebaran Robotics is one of the leading companies in humanoid robotics and show a great potential.
Nao is an autonomous and programmable humanoid robot developed by the company Aldebaran Robotics. This robot is particularly adapted to assist people and we aim to increase its capacities and particularly its locomotion abilities. Our project’s main goal is to provide to the robot an adapted vehicle in order to improve its speed and individual autonomy. Called Gyronao, the vehicle is a caterpillar track vehicle adapted to Nao’s size. The robot drives its vehicle in a totally autonomous way using Wifi communication. To locate itself in its environment, Nao uses its ultrasounds captors, detects its own tags called Naomarks and move according to them.
Nowadays, the practical application of our project is to provide an automatic guide in already known perimeters, especially University campuses. Meanwhile, the same platform can have other applications: it can help blind persons to find their way or to move loads automatically.
